Recently, the online group exchange project of "Chinese Bridge" hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Shandong Polytechnic College was successfully held. 70 students from countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Laos gathered online to embark on a learning journey of "Chinese + vocational skills".
With the theme of "Taking Chinese as the 'Bridge' and Embarking on the Appointment of 'Chinese + Business'", this project fully demonstrates the characteristics of advanced, interesting and applied teaching. Through various means such as on-site real-scene live-streaming, professionally-filmed recorded broadcasts, and explanations in both Chinese and English, it provides Chinese language teaching courses, Chinese culture experience courses and business major courses for the students, and organizes them to carry out a variety of skill and cultural exchange activities.
The opening ceremony of this online group exchange project of "Chinese Bridge" was successfully held at Chonburi Technical College in Thailand. Xu Lan, the Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, Zhong Hongbo, a member of the Education Working Committee of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, a member of the Party Leadership Group and the Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, Zhao Yanqing, the Director of the Bangkok Center of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Education, Zhang Longhai, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and the President of Shandong Polytechnic College, Zhou Dongfang, the Manager of Shengdi (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Somdet Tunchai, the Vice-President of the Buddhist Committee of Thailand, Songphu Banden, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Vocational Education Committee of the Thai Ministry of Education, Banchaiya-Enpian Warakorn, the Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province in Thailand, Wutthaya Khum-prom, the Chief of the Administration Office of Chonburi Province in Thailand, and Nitta Wellembamba, the President of Chonburi Technical College in Thailand, and other Chinese and foreign leaders witnessed the event together. Zhang Longhai, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and the President of Shandong Polytechnic College, said in his speech that the college will integrate high-quality resources from all parties to promote the online group exchange project of "Chinese Bridge" to a larger scale and a higher level, and make this event a grand occasion for Chinese-foreign cultural exchanges and vocational education cooperation.
During the project period, the school organized outstanding teachers of international Chinese language education and business majors to form a "Chinese + Business" teaching team. They actively prepared and meticulously designed various courses, such as real-life Chinese language learning, professional Chinese language courses, and experiences of outstanding traditional Chinese culture, presenting all aspects of China's outstanding traditional culture and contemporary social life to the students in an all-round, multi-angle and three-dimensional manner.Relying on the National Demonstration Center for New Business Studies of Shandong Polytechnic College, the teachers, through cloud visits and themed lectures, explained the basic theories and knowledge of management, organization, marketing and other aspects to the students in a simple and profound way. While helping the students improve their Chinese proficiency, experience the charm of Chinese culture and the vigorous development of Chinese society, it also stimulated their interest in business knowledge.
In class, the students followed the teachers to speak Chinese, imitated Chinese etiquette postures, and carefully wrote Chinese characters with high enthusiasm for learning. After the project ended, the students shared their learning experiences and gains from this project. Through this activity, they experienced the charm of the Chinese language and the profound heritage of Chinese culture. "The Chinese Bridge is a very good platform. I like Chinese Kung Fu the most in the recorded courses, and I also want to learn more about Chinese culture in the future," said Zhang Fuqiang from Chonburi Technical College in Thailand. Chen Xiangyang from Chonburi Technical College said that the Business Chinese course was very interesting, with rich content and novel forms, enabling him to learn more business professional knowledge and allowing him to see a different world.
Since 2021, in order to promote the development of international Chinese language education and facilitate Chinese-foreign language exchanges, the school, based on Chinese language teaching and characterized by vocational education, has undertaken 6 online group exchange projects of the "Chinese Bridge", 2 projects such as the "Chinese Bridge" delegation of educators visiting China, etc., contributing wisdom and strength to serving the Belt and Road Initiative and promoting the going global of vocational education with Chinese characteristics.
